Engage Organics is proud to be a sponsor of CIGA’s 33rd Annual Education Conference.
This year, the conference was held in Maui, Hawaii. For those who don’t know, CIGA is the California Independent Grocers Association.
CIGA is a nonprofit trade association that has been representing independent grocers in California since the late 1800s.
They provide indispensable services and benefits to their members, including direct access to lobbyists, worker’s comp, insurance programs, coupon redemption, credit card processing programs, and so on.
Without their services, many small grocers wouldn’t be able to exist in today’s big business dominated world. They really are what they say to be—the voice of the independent grocer.
CIGA’s Annual Education Conference has been going on for three decades. It provides a common ground for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers alike to meet, network, and discuss the future of the industry.
It’s especially important for independent grocers to know what’s coming next and what their customers really want. Having a meeting place to listen to and examine the best new ideas is key to staying afloat in such a competitive industry.
More natural and organic products in the grocery store
One of the main focuses of this year’s Annual Education Conference is natural and organic products in the grocery store. From non-GMO to gluten-free and salt-free choices, many consumers are making the shift toward healthier living for themselves and for their families.
New families and younger, more environmentally conscious generations have become especially interested in healthier lifestyles.
Engage Organics is all about living healthier and offering our customers choices that can help them achieve the lifestyle they want. That’s why we became a sponsor of the Annual Education Conference this year and presented on salt-free, gluten-free, and non-GMO living.
The shift toward these lifestyles is not a fad, as we have seen support for healthier grocery store choices grow steadily for many years. Further, support has only grown faster and faster in recent years.
More and more consumers will take on healthier lifestyles and will, in turn, demand healthier choices from their grocers. We think this is a great time to be an independent grocer in the state of California.
